Great Bread with a Breadmaker

January 15, 2016

If you don't have a bread machine, you are missing one of the great treats of modern living. This bread recipe comes from The Bread Machine Cookbook by Donna German. The bread is great for sandwiches, but we also use the bread machine on the dough cycle, then use the dough to make sandwich rolls and hamburger buns.  If you don't have a bread machine, this dough is difficult to knead because it is fairly wet and sticky.  I modified this recipe in 2009 to make it a bit more dense, which helps it hold together when making sandwiches.  WB
1 3/4 Cups water
2 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
4 Cups bread flour
2 tsp yeast
Put the ingredients in the bread machine in the order suggested by the manufacturer. Process on the white bread cycle. Enjoy.
